Elvis No Longer King of the Dead

Kurt Cobain has knocked the reigning king of dead celebrities off of Forbes list of highest earning dead celebrities. Elvis had held the top spot on the list since the it's inception in 2000.

Cobain, who shot himself in 1994, earned $50 million between October 2005 and October 2006. Elvis paled in comparison this year, even though he earned $42 million over the past year, even though it's been nearly 30 years since he died.

Other's on the Forbes list include Peanuts animator Charles Schultz, John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe, Bob Marley, and Ray Charles.
